Dr. Karolina Filipowska

Dr. Karolina Filipowska, a seasoned medical doctor with a robust international background in healthcare, is the Deputy Medical Director of Teladoc Health Canada. Born in Europe, Dr. Filipowska has trained and practiced medicine on both sides of the Atlantic, bringing over 15 years of experience to her role. She holds a BSc (Hons) and an MSc from McMaster University, did her PhD studies at the University of Western Ontario, and graduated from medical school at the National University of Ireland. She further honed her expertise during a five-year Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Toronto, supplemented by Fellowships in Medical Education and Simulation.
Additionally, in her former role of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Dr. Filipowska focused on interprofessional learning and simulation, supervising research projects in curriculum design that explored team performance and latent errors in medical simulations. She held significant roles as the Director of Simulation and Continuing Education Professional Development Rounds for the Emergency Department at Canada’s largest trauma center. In these capacities, she collaborated closely with the Canadian Simulation Centre to deliver accredited, in-situ simulation training to interprofessional teams. In her current position at Teladoc Health, Dr. Filipowska leverages her comprehensive clinical and educational background to enhance medical services and promote innovative healthcare solutions across the organization.
